PoShaKucha is a play on words, combining “PowerShell” and “Pecha Kucha”. A Pecha Kucha is an entertaining presentation format in which 20 images or slides are shown and commented on for 20 seconds each. That way the presentation is limited to 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The same rule applies to a PoShaKucha. It is easy to imagine that this presentation format is both entertaining and challenging for the speaker.

As a demonstration I took on the challenge and recorded such a PoShaKucha. The video offers not only subtitles but also two audio tracks (German, English).

The European MCT Summit took place in January 2024 in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, just outside The Hague. There I gave a talk called “Broadcast Yourself”, in which I demonstrated how talks can be recorded independently with relatively simple means. How well those suggestions work can be checked directly using the recording of my own session.

The accompanying slide deck contains many links and detailed information on microphones, audio interfaces, adapters, and software. Many of the ideas can easily be applied to similar use cases.

This year the PowerShell Conference EU took place in Prague, Czech Republic, from 19 to 23 June. At the conference I presented my PowerShell implementation of the legendary Enigma cipher machines.

I recommend taking a look at the slides, which contain further information and many images covering the background — including Bletchley Park, the famous home of the English codebreakers during World War II.

From 20 to 24 June 2022, the PowerShell Conference Europe (PSConfEU) took place in Vienna. After a two-year COVID-related absence, it was finally a long-awaited reunion of the “PowerShell community”. Unfortunately, Jeffrey Snover was also missing — he had just announced his departure from Microsoft in those very days.
